Easter Egg Hunt... Tripleheader!

Adessa, we thought our Easter Egg Hunt fun was all done, didn't we?

That is, until we stopped to get gas in the little town of Buffalo, IA on Easter Sunday afternoon.

"Happy Easter!" you told the man behind the counter.

"Happy Easter!" he replied. "Did you do an Easter Egg Hunt?"

"Yes, I did. And I saw the Fox and Elmo." ("The Fox" is what you called Rookie the Raccoon.)

"Wow, sounds like you had a lot of fun. Did you know they're having an Easter Egg Hunt here at the park?"

At that moment, both of us perked up. Oh, really?

"Yep, at the park right down the street," he continued. "Starts at two o'clock."

It was a quarter after one. Perfect timing. We paid for the gas and hustled over to the park.

There was already a crowd of children and parents. The town's fire engine was there, as were all the police cars, and, of course, the mayor.

With a little time before the start of the hunt, you got to play on their very nice playland.

Among the attractions was a big purple dinosaur you could ride.

This little girl -- who was a bit older than you -- showed off with some fancy riding.

You were fascinated with the super scooper.

As the start of the great hunt drew nearer, we took our place and waited anxiously.

Well, not too anxiously. Here you are just chilling with Daddy.

I warned you that the fire engine was going to sound its horn to signal the start of the hunt. Well ahead of time, you had your fingers in your ears as protection.

Fortunately, this hunt went much better than Saturday afternoon's. No near-riot. Everyone behaved themselves (I think most of that was owed to the fact that no parents were allowed on the field -- kids only).

I got a nice video of you hunting eggs and will post that in the next few days.

You filled your bag quite nicely.

Inside one of the eggs was a five-dollar-bill! Daddy was quite surprised by that. You weren't too impressed -- you were much less interested in a green piece of paper than in the Tootsie Rolls, candy bars, and bubble gum found in your other eggs!
