The Interrogation

"Daddy, what are we going to do when we get home?" you asked as we returned from our walk Saturday evening.

"You're going to take a bath."

"What will we do after I take a bath?"

Uh-oh. I can sense where this is going.

"We'll dry you off and then blow-dry your hair."

"What will we do after I dry off?"

"We'll brush our teeth."

"What will we do after we brush our teeth?"

"We'll read stories together."

"What will we do after we read stories together?"

"We'll say our prayers."

"What will we do after we say our prayers?"

"We'll sing a song."

"What will we do after we sing a song?

(slight hesitation) "Well... we'll go night-night."

(melodramatically) "But I don't want to go night-night!"

Sometimes our conversations feel a little bit like an Abbott and Costello routine.
