Our Day in Malibu, Part 1
Oh, what a glorious day that was, Adessa... I'm still on a high from spending all day in Malibu with you. It had been a long time since we'd been to the ocean together -- hard to believe, but it had been nearly one year since we were in the surf of the Atlantic Ocean out in Corpus Christi, TX. So yesterday was just absolute bliss to be with you in the saltwater again. We did a lot of stuff, so we'll break this down over a few posts during the next week.
Here we are at the famous Malibu Sport Fishing Pier sign... the Pier had been closed for over a year for renovations, but fortunately it was reopened in time for our visit.
It was pretty windy out there as usual. Hold tightly onto Blankie Bear!
Bravely venturing out onto the Pier... that's a loooooong walk out over the Pacific Ocean.
Fishing from the Pier, just like all the old pros!
Walking in the warm sand felt good on a cold morning.
We dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig in the sand the whole day through...
We dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, that's what we like to do!
Knee-deep in the surf with Daddy... I think this was the favorite part of the day for both of us.
You struck a great pose and the lighting was nice on this pic. I call this "Adessa in Repose."
Walking along the famous Pacific Coast Highway that runs all the way up the California coast.
Standing on a wakeboard in a surf shop... you pointed to a big surfboard and said "Can I have it Daddy? Can I have the green one?" I took a look at the $600 price tag and thought perhaps that would be an investment best left for another day.
Stopping to smell the flowers... in this case, a lovely Morning Glory you picked while we walked.
Lunch at D'Amore's... and a pause for a quick kiss.
"Hey, you with the camera! This is a private moment we're trying to have here!"
During lunch, we spotted Gary Busey emerging from the nearby grocery store. Meanwhile, Mommy saw Kobe Bryant at the restaurant where she was having lunch. Yeah, I think it's safe to say that Mommy's celebrity sighting outdid ours!
Another lovely pose in the sun, this time seated on an old driftwood log. You really know how to work it, sweetheart.
Sharing a Peanut Butter Cup Shake from Ruby's.
We saw lots of animals during the day, including this pelican who was looking for a handout of some leftover fish guts. You offered him some of our shake, but he didn't seem interested for some reason.
Back to the surf one last time, per your request, before our day -- regretfully -- had to come to an end. I am so thankful that we had that time together, Addie... you were an absolute angel and joy to behold. I'm going to hold the memories of this day close to my heart for a long, long time... and I hope we can do it again soon.

Daddy
What an exciting day you had - complete with a movie star sighting! I'm glad you and Daddy got to do this - looks like you both thoroughly enjoyed it.
