Making Another New Friend: Kaya
For the second week in a row, you made a new friend at Citrus Plaza, Adessa. This time it was a little four-year-old girl from Miss Debbie's preschool class named Kaya. Just like last week, when you first spotted her, you weren't sure if you wanted to play together.
But before long, your curiosity overcame your shyness, and, seeing her playing in the fountain just like you do, you decided to reach out to her with a very kind gesture and offering of friendship...
...in this case, in the form of coins that she could then throw in the fountain like you do.
It was very sweet watching you offer your pennies to Kaya, one-by-one... in fact, you were so generous with your coins that you completely forgot about throwing any of them in yourself -- until Kaya said, "I have an idea, why don't we both throw in coins together?"
And that's just what you both did.
At that point, you were fast friends, and you bravely took Kaya by the hand... and then you did something I've never seen you do before... despite the fact that you are two years younger than Kaya, you asserted yourself (is there a Type-A personality emerging here) and became the "play director" for the two of you.
"Let's play Hide-and-Seek," you announced, adding, "you hide over there." Kaya was sweet enough to comply with your request and hid right where you pointed. I'm not sure how that fits the "hide" part of Hide-and-Seek when you know exactly where she's hiding... but hey, it seemed to work for you two.
After Hide-and-Seek, you played games of Ring Around The Rosey and challenged each other to various jumping challenges before Kaya had to leave with her Grandma. Once again, you did wonderfully well in making a new friend and I can see the confidence steadily growing in you as you learn how to interact with other little girls and boys. It's such a treat to experience that with you.
