Maria Sanchez... A Special Friend
Adessa, this is a photo of you being held by Maria Sanchez taken just a few days ago:
Maria is a special friend to your Mommy and me. You see, for years her son, Rich, played drums in our band, called Sparklepop. (The story behind that name is a tale for another time.) I can't even begin to count the number of times we met at the Sanchez home in Colton, CA... and there we would load up all our instruments and equipment in our big white van and then we'd take off to a show in San Diego, or Orange County, or sometimes faraway places like Oregon, Washington, Texas, Iowa, Kansas, Arizona, New York, Tennessee, or Michigan. A couple times, we even went to Canada.
Anyway, over time we became friends with the whole Sanchez family: Maria, Rich, Rich's dad Mike, Rich's brothers Frank and Mike (yep, there are two Mikes in the family), Rich's sister Leah, even Rich's grandparents. The Sanchez house was always one that was filled with love and that love extended to us as we became "part of the family." I can still remember watching them wave as we would we drive away down their street. I know they were all so proud of Rich and so supportive of our music and ministry together.
The whole Sanchez family is still dear to our hearts, Adessa. You never forget friends like them. I am so glad you've gotten a chance to meet Maria and spend time with her this week. She loves you, too.
