From the Vault: A Crick In The Neck!
Adessa, these photos and the video below are all from a trip that you, Mommy, and I took to a hair salon called Tintura in Upland, CA on November 19, 2008. You see, Tintura is owned by a longtime friend of ours, Doris Rodriguez... and she had just opened this brand-new store a few months before we came by for a visit.
You and I had a wonderful time together as it took more than four hours for Doris to give Mommy her cut and color (no problem, these things take time). We spent the time doing a lot of different things: we walked across the street over to Mervyn's, visited the new Fresh And Easy that opened next door, had dinner on the patio of the Thai Family Restaurant, and then spent the rest of the time goofing around at the salon playing games, reading books, and playing with a few other children who were there that night.
One of the games we played is an old one that my Daddy taught me a long time ago called "A Crick In The Neck." You love this one and ask for it again and again. Accompanied by hand motions on your back, it goes:
I can still remember that night like it was yesterday, Adessa... the chill of the night air as we walked, the smell of the salon, and most especially your sweet little giggle at the end of our game. I will always treasure the memories of nights like this.

"X marks the spot
A dot here, a dot here, a dot here, and a dot here
A bullfrog here, a bullfrog here, and a bullfrog here
Spiders crawling down your back
Blood trickling down your back
A cool summer breeze
And a crick... in the neck!"

Boy, Adessa, this takes me back to when your Daddy was a little boy and he loved to play this game with Grandpa over and over. It's so fun to see you enjoying the very same thing years later!
