Spam Museum

Yesterday, Adessa, as we drove on I-90 through Austin, Minn., we saw a giant freeway sign that read:

Hormel Spam Museum Exit 180C

Why, that was the very next exit. Snap decision. Let's stop!

Out front was a statue of a Minnesota farmer and his pigs.

You were excited to discover that the farmer's bucket was filled with corn on the cob.

The two of us posing in front of the museum's mascot, "Spammy."

"Spammy, huh? No, that's not in the least corny."

"Hey Daddy, the door to this theater looks like a pig's face!"

You did a little simulated "Spam Assembly Line" test...

...and timed out at 43 seconds per finished Spam container.

Touching the "Fresh Meats" is always fun.

"Push To Start" -- I wonder what this button does?

Turned out it kicked off a little Spam-themed puppet show.

Trying on a Hormel factory worker's outfit.

And, finally, hoisting a crate with a rope to practice what it would be like loading a ship.

I'm really glad we stopped. The museum seemed to make quite an impression on you. After we left and continued on toward Minnetonka, for the rest of the day you asked, "Can we go to the Spam Museum again?" Even today you asked if we could go back a few times.

Daddy
