Participating in the Puppet Show

Today was a first -- your first first taste of being a part of putting on a live puppet show! There was a special show all put together by the children's ministry at church. You were the youngest one there (the next youngest was Ashlann at four years old) and there were kids all the way up to ten years old involved, so you were a bit intimidated.

I kept a close seat during rehearsal and sure enough, a few times during practice you decided you'd rather come out front and sit with me. You were unsure if you were up to this whole puppet show thing.

Your part was one of the singing chorus monsters on a song about knowing God's word. They had to boost you up real high with a chair so you could reach over the curtain.

All the way up to the service time (and performance time) I couldn't tell if you were going to have the nerve to go through with it. One moment, you wanted to, the next, you wanted to cling to me. In the end, you decided you'd rather watch the puppet show out front with me, and so we did. And we had a great time as it was a very enjoyable show.

I am certain that by next year you'll be ready to be a part of things like this. Until then, there's no rush. We can practice with the puppets you made this week until then.
